NYU Langone Health and Long Island Hospital Move Closer to Merger

NYU Langone Health, based in New York City, is set to merge with Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, N.Y., within the next year. According to a spokesperson for the health system, the merger will allow Long Island Community Hospital to access the resources of the larger health system. The affiliation between the two hospitals was approved by state and federal authorities in 2022, with NYU Langone becoming the active parent of the 306-bed medical center.

The merger is expected to occur in approximately a year’s time, and once it’s finalized, Long Island Community Hospital will receive a new name and become part of a division within the NYU Langone hospital system. The two organizations initially announced their plans for affiliation in the summer of 2021.
