Finland’s Valtteri Puustinen and Jesse Puljujarvi Set to Shine on the World Stage with the 2024 IIHF Championship: A Look at their Standout Seasons

Valtteri Puustinen and Jesse Puljujarvi selected for Team Finland in IIHF World Championship

The 2024 IIHF World Championship will feature two Finnish forwards, Valtteri Puustinen and Jesse Puljujarvi. Both players have previously represented Finland in international competition, with Puustinen winning silver at the 2021 World Championship and Puljujarvi representing the country at the 2017 event.

Puustinen had a standout season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, playing in 52 games and recording 20 points (5G-15A). He led Penguins rookies in goals, assists, and points, and also shone with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL. There, he tallied 13 points in 24 games, including three points in two playoff games.

Puljujarvi joined the Penguins on a professional tryout in December 2023 before signing a two-year contract in February 2024. The forward played in 22 games with Pittsburgh, scoring four points. He also had a productive stint with the WBS Penguins, totaling nine points in 13 games.

The schedule for Team Finland’s preliminary round at the World Championship has been released, but broadcast information is yet to be announced.
