Celebrating Small Business Success in NYC: Events Highlight Impact of Business Improvement Districts and Mayor Eric Adams’ Investments

Business Improvement Districts Recognized for their Dedication in Supporting Small Businesses

On Monday, the accomplishments of business improvement districts were celebrated through events held across the five boroughs in New York City. These districts are known for supporting small businesses within their communities, and their impact was highlighted by Commissioner Kevin Kim of the NYC Small Business Services. Kim emphasized that the 75 BIDs in New York City cover 300 miles of commercial corridors and inject $194 million into the economy annually.

Mayor Eric Adams also made an announcement during these outreach events, unveiling nearly $7 million in investments for small businesses. Adams believes these funds will not only boost tourism but also strengthen commercial corridors throughout the city. This financial support aims to help businesses thrive in their respective neighborhoods and contribute to the city’s economic growth.

In addition to these investments and celebrations, the upcoming New York City Small Business Expo on May 29 will provide a platform for hundreds of small businesses to come together. This expo will offer opportunities for networking, showcasing products and services, and forging new partnerships. By uniting these businesses, the expo aims to support their growth and success in the competitive business landscape of New York City.
