A group of 18 bakers in the Paris suburb of Suresnes recently set a new Guinness World Record for the longest baguette, measuring at 143.53 meters. This impressive feat surpasses the previous record by over 10 meters and reclaims the title for France from bakers in Como, Italy. The record was verified by a Guinness World Records judge who was present during the event held by the French Confederation of Bakers and Pastry Chefs.
The baguette, made from wheat flour, water, salt, and yeast, required true spirit and collective sportsmanship to create. The dough was kneaded for hours before being baked in a specially constructed oven on wheels. The event took place at 3 a.m., with Mayor Guillaume Boudy expressing pride in Suresnes for hosting the record-breaking occasion. He called it a promotion of a national symbol of French gastronomy.
After certification by Guinness officials, part of the baguette was distributed to onlookers while the rest was given to the homeless. The achievement showcases the dedication and craftsmanship of French artisan bakers and highlights their commitment to excellence in their field.
