Uganda has appointed Brian Masaba as the captain of their squad for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies. This marks Uganda’s first time participating in a World Cup. The team will consist of 15 players, including Frank Nsubuga, who is set to be the oldest player in the tournament.
Riazat Ali Shah has been named as the vice-captain of the team, with Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze serving as traveling reserve players. Uganda and Namibia were the two teams to qualify for the T20 World Cup from the Africa leg of the qualifiers, beating out teams like Zimbabwe.
Uganda has been placed in Group C for the tournament alongside Afghanistan, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and the West Indies. Their first match will be against Afghanistan in Providence, Guyana on June 4th. The squad includes Kenneth Waiswa, Dinesh Nakrani, and Ronak Patel among others.
